ountess Maria is happy to announce that she now has properties available to let, encouraged by many requests. The first is at ILLETAS. This is a small but classy studio apartment which is used by the family children when visiting.

ILLETAS is a small unspoilt resort on the right of the Bay of Palma. Unlike the other resorts which were over-built, Illetas was left alone by the major developers as the beaches were considered too small. The few apartment blocks and two five-star hotels are built around the gardens of Illetas, and are unobtrusive enough. The beaches are in fact two very nice sheltered 'u' shaped stretches of tree-surrounded sands, with very white sand and buoyant water, good for those who don't swim too well! In my youth Mallorcan dads used to take their babies into the water there to teach them to swim, whilst the mothers threw themselves to their knees and prayed!!

The beaches are five minutes down the cliff steps from the apartment block, called 'Bahia de Palma'. This was the original aparthotel of the resort, but is now owned privately, mostly by nationals wanting to live near the sea and work in the city, and a handful of foreigners and mainland Spaniards who have holiday apartments there.

There is a good and very frequent bus service into town, and to the resorts. A small supermarket/bakers, café bar and carhire office in the complex, which also has a gym, but currently being renovated, and a pool and sun area on the fifth floor for the use of residents.

There is a porter on duty, and night security, and the apartment is serviced by a cleaner, electrician and plumber if anything goes wrong.

It will sleep two adults and up to four children (or people up to about 8 stone). The accomodation, being a studio, is all-in-one open plan.There is a top range king-size bed settee, and a three piece suite which converts to a small double and two single beds. Quite comfortable and not lying on the floor, but proper beds! There is a television, overhead cooler fans, small well-equipped and fitted kitchen with fullsize fridge/freezer, ceramic hob and microwave oven, ample storage space and a separate bathroom with shower and washer/dryer.

FLAT AT CA'N PASTILLA between Palma town and El Arenal. On the opposite side of the bay of Palma to Maria's apartment at ILLETAS.

Countess Maria is now pleased to announce she is managing the flat belonging to a Mallorcan lady friend. This apartment belonged to Antonia's mother who now lives in residential care. It is furnished as a family home. Sleeps six in two twin-bedded rooms plus a new sofabed in the living/dining room. There is a large balcony, fitted kitchen and full bathroom. It is situated on the first floor over a small parade of nice shops (including a bakery), and is very private. No pool, but there are two beaches close by. The quiet beach is only a 4-5 minute walk along the residential road from the flat. The main beach resort of Arenal is a 7-minute leisurely walk along the main street, and has all the facilities of a major seaside resort. Excellent for families.

There is a good bus into Palma town, and to all excursion points. Car hire close by, cheaper than the airport hire.

This again is a family home and not suitable for large singles groups. Both the area and the flat will suit families and couples. I hope to have pictures available very soon.
